Why AI video dialogue sounds rushed (and how to fix it)
Why characters talk too fast or get cut off in AI video, how to spot it before you generate, and four fixes that save credits.
The real cause
When an AI video character speaks too fast, swallows words or gets cut off, the model isn't broken. The line is simply longer than the clip. The model tries to fit everything into the seconds you chose, so it speeds up — or it runs out of time and stops mid-sentence.
Regenerating rarely helps. You pay again, and you usually get the same problem in a different way.
How to tell before you generate
Read the line out loud at a natural pace with a timer. If it takes longer than the clip minus about half a second, it will feel rushed. Cut Maker does this for every cut automatically and marks it Fits, Tight or Over.
Four fixes
- Split the line across two cuts. The most natural fix. Break at a comma or between sentences, and let the second clip continue the moment.
- Choose a longer clip. If your model allows it, go from 10 to 12 or 15 seconds. Only pay for what you need.
- Trim filler words. "I think that maybe we should probably go" becomes "We should go." Shorter lines also sound more dramatic.
- Move actions out of the dialogue cut. If a character walks for two seconds, give the walk its own clip, or start the line after the movement.
An example
Over (5s clip): "I found this in your coat. Want to explain why her name is on it?"
Cut 1 (5s): "I found this in your coat."
Cut 2 (5s): "Want to explain why her name is on it?"
Two short cuts also give you a natural reaction shot in between, which often looks better than one long take.
