How to Make a Split-Screen Video (Free, No Install)
Put 2–4 videos on one screen: 14 layouts including top/bottom, side by side and 2×2, saved as 9:16, 16:9 or 1:1, with sound and length options. Free in your browser.
When to use it
Original vs AI version, reactions, two angles of one scene, before and after: whenever two scenes should play at once. Top/bottom is the most common split on Shorts. The tool is Split screen.
1. Pick a layout
- 2 videos: Top / bottom, Side by side, Picture-in-picture, Circle PiP, Diagonal
- 3 videos: Big left, Big right, Big top, Big bottom, 3 rows, 3 columns
- 4 videos: 2×2 grid, Big top + 3, 4 rows
Press 🎲 Random to jump to another layout and compare quickly.
In picture-in-picture and circle PiP, drag the small window or use the ↖ ↗ ↙ ↘ buttons to move it, and change its size and border (thickness, color).
2. Add the videos
Press Add video in each pane or drag a video in. MP4, MOV and WEBM all work. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
3. Split and framing
Drag a video in the preview to move what’s shown, and drag the handle on the divider to change the split. Use Zoom per side to get faces closer.
4. Output size
- 9:16 Shorts: Shorts, Reels, TikTok
- 16:9 YouTube: regular YouTube videos
- 1:1: Instagram feed
5. Divider, sound, length
- Divider: None / Thin line / Color band
- Sound: one video, or All
- Length: Match the shorter or Match the longer (Shorter video holds its last frame)
6. Save, then add subtitles
Press Save split video. It takes about as long as the video. For 3–4 videos, use Chrome or Edge on a computer. Then carry the result into Subtitles for a news or anime style. See how to add subtitles to Shorts.
